What People Say About Us
Ms. Lee Hibbard
Center Director
Meet Our Director
I am originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling and Deaf Studies. Prior to working in education, I was a Regional Director of several group homes for people with various abilities for 17 years. I began my Montessori journey in 2003 when my daughter started at a Montessori school in Minneapolis, then my second daughter started there in 2006 as a toddler. I began working as an Assistant Director at the Montessori school in 2007 and became the school’s Director a few months later. I was the proud Director for almost 12 years, After I left the Montessori school, I worked in the Minneapolis Public School system for 5 years as an administrator. I moved to Desert Hills in September with my youngest daughter and I am so excited to return to my ultimate passion of Montessori. In my spare time, I like to go see live music, watch movies, read, and be with my friends and family. I have many favorite quotes of Maria Montessori, but my two favorites are:
“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”
“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn.”
Programs
Choosing a Montessori environment for your child has many benefits. Known for individually paced learning and fostering independence, the Montessori Method also encourages empathy, a passion for social justice, and a joy in lifelong learning. Given the freedom and support to question, probe deeply, and make connections, Montessori students grow up to be confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed learners and citizens, accountable to both themselves and their community. They think critically, work collaboratively, and act boldly and with integrity. Learn more about our programs below:
Infants and Toddlers: (Ages 6 weeks - 3 years)
Montessori Infant & Toddler programs lay the foundation for lifelong learning by nurturing your child’s curiosity, self-confidence, and intrinsic desire to learn from birth. A Montessori environment offers so much more than childcare for the youngest learners.
Montessori Infant & Toddler programs offer a curriculum that emerges from each child’s unique skills and interests. Based on daily observations, teachers introduce new materials and activities that pique curiosity and stimulate learning. Learning objectives for your child at this age include developing skills such as language, concentration, problem solving, visual discrimination, and physical coordination.
Preschool (early childhood) ages 3-6
Montessori education is student-led and self-paced but guided, assessed, and enriched by knowledgeable and caring teachers, the leadership of their peers, and a nurturing environment.
Within the community of a multi-age classroom—designed to create natural opportunities for independence, citizenship, and accountability—children embrace multi-sensory learning and passionate inquiry. Individual students follow their own curiosity at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully understand each concept and meet individualized learning goals.
Kindergarten
Kindergarteners are introduced to progressively more advanced Montessori materials and sophisticated, fascinating lessons. They experience an important period in which their previous learning from working with concrete Montessori materials begins to become permanent knowledge. A Montessori Kindergarten student sees and feels their personal growth as they watch others learn information, they have mastered themselves.
Kindergarten is the culmination of the Early Childhood program. Children exhibit the independence, critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership that they have been practicing during their previous years in the Early Childhood classroom, exercising them independently at their own pace, as they prepare to transition into an Elementary program.
